Đức Đạt Lai Lạt Ma đã nhập viện tại Mumbai để kiểm tra sức khoẻ
khi ngài cảm thấy kiệt sức và mệt mõi sau chuyến công du tại
Châu Âu vừa qua.
Theo phụ tá đắc lực của ngài, ông Tenzin Taklha thì không có vấn
đề gì nghiêm trọng về sức khoẻ của Đức Đạt Lai Lạt Ma, nhưng
ngài xác nhận với bệnh viện Lilivati tại Mumbai lý do nhập viện
là bởi vì ngài cảm thấy các triệu chứng khó chịu trong bao tử
của ngài.
Đức Đạt Lai Lạt Ma sẽ được kiểm tra sức khoẻ vào sang thứ sáu
ngày 29 tháng 5 năm 2008 bởi bác sĩ riêng của ngài.
Vào năm 2002 vị lãnh đạo của Phật giáo Tây Tạng đã 1 lần được
chữa trị với triệu chứng nhiễm trùng bao tử bởi thuốc kháng
sinh.
Đức Đạt Lai Lạt Ma năm nay 73 tuổi đã làm hàng loạt chuyến công
du vòng quanh các nước nhằm vận động cho nhân quyền tự do dân
chủ tôn giáo cho Tây Tạng trong khi Trung Cộng chuẩn bị cho thế
vận hội muà hè Bắc Kinh 2008 vừa kết thúc vào ngày 24 tháng 8
vừa qua.
Vị lãnh đạo tâm linh phật giáo Tây Tạng cũng là nhân vật đoạt
giải Nobel hòa bình trở lại Ấn Độ từ Pháp sau khi gặp gỡ bộ
trưởng bộ ngoại giao Bernard Kouchner, chủ tịch liên hội nhân
quyền thế giới Rama Yade và Tổng thống phu nhân Pháp quốc Carla
Bruni-Sarkoky.
Các kế hoạch dự trù đến thăm các nước Mexico và cộng hoà
Dominican đã bị hủy bỏ, các tổ chức phật giáo cũng như nhân
quyền và toàn thể phật tử toàn thể thế giới sẽ có những chương
trình cầu nguyện cho sức khoẻ của ngài.
Đức Đạt Lai Lạt Ma cùng hàng trăm ngàn dân Tây Tạng buộc phải ly
hương sống lưu vong tại Ấn Độ sau khi cuộc khởi nghĩa chống
ngoại xâm Trung Cộng vào năm 1959.

The Dalai Lama has been taken to hospital in India after
complaining of stomach pain, his office said.
The Dalai Lama's admission to a hospital in Mumbai came a day
after the Tibetan spiritual leader's office said he was
suffering from exhaustion and would travel to the city for a
medical check-up.
"There is nothing major to feel concerned about," his personal
secretary Tenzin Taklha said.
"But he has been admitted to the Lilivati Hospital in Mumbai
because he was feeling some discomfort in his abdomen.
"The Dalai Lama will be examined by doctors tomorrow [Friday]."
The check-up is being carried out "at the recommendation of his
personal physicians," Mr Taklha added.
In 2002 the leader of Tibetan Buddhists was admitted to the
Lilivati Hospital after falling ill with stomach pains. He was
treated with antibiotics.
The 73-year-old spiritual leader had been pursuing a gruelling
travel itinerary as he campaigned for improved human rights in
Tibet while China readied to host the Olympic Games in Beijing
that ended on August 24.
The Nobel peace prize winner returned last weekend from France
where he met Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, Human Rights
Minister Rama Yade and First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
Violent protests against Chinese rule broke out across Tibet in
March, sparking a heavy Chinese crackdown on the Himalayan
region that has drawn global condemnation.
His office said on Wednesday said the monk would now not lead a
worldwide 12-hour fast on August 30 intended to ensure attention
to the campaign for improved human rights in Tibet did not drop
off in the wake of the Olympics.
Officials said the fast and prayer session planned for his
followers around the world will take place without him.
Planned visits to Mexico and the Dominican Republic have been
dropped, the statement added.
The leader had already undergone some tests earlier this month,
his office said, without providing further details.
China sent troops into Tibet in 1950 and "liberated" it the
following year.
The Dalai Lama fled into exile in India in 1959 following a
failed uprising against Chinese rule.
The Dalai Lama has kept reaching out to Beijing, despite being
vilified by China as "mastermind" of a drive to sabotage the
Olympics and destabilise the country.
